    • Every field matters. Business description, services, hours, photos, Q&A — fill them all out completely.

    • Post weekly. GBP posts signal to Google that your business is active. AI Mode favors active, well-maintained profiles.
    • Add products and services. These give AI Mode structured data to pull from when someone asks a specific question.

    AI Mode is essentially a question-answering engine. It scans the web looking for pages that directly answer what the user asked. If your website only has a homepage and a contact page, you have almost nothing for AI Mode to pull from.

    A local citation is any mention of your business name, address, and phone number on another website — directories like Yelp, Angi, HomeAdvisor, BBB, and dozens of industry-specific sites. AI Mode cross-references these sources to verify that a business is legitimate and established.

    If your citations are inconsistent (different phone numbers, old addresses, mismatched business names), AI Mode treats your business as unreliable and skips you.

    • Audit your top 20 citations for accuracy
    • Get listed on niche directories relevant to your industry
    • Make sure your NAP (name, address, phone) is identical everywhere
